MBRC has newly launched as an official research center under Medical Research Center of Seoul National University College of Medicine by promulgation of the regulations of the Seoul National University Medical Research Center (September 7th, 2021).
Therefore, the Medical Big Data Research Center undertakes the role in research · human resource training · commercialization in the field of medical big data and AI, as an official research institute affiliated to the Medical Research Center of Seoul National University College of Medicine.
With the launch of a research organization dedicated to the study in medical big data and AI, MBRC has secured an administrative foundation to build a cooperative system with relevant research institutes in Seoul National University including Seoul National University Hospital, Data Science Graduate School and Artificial Intelligence Institute. Furthermore, the center has acted as a central point to strengthen global competency in medical data science field by concentrating various capabilities of Seoul National University.

MBRC started as an ICT Research Center (ITRC) designated by the Ministry of Science and ICT in July 2018. For three years from then, the center has focused on research in unstructured medical data · human resource training · commercialization and have achieved remarkable results, laying the foundation to make a new leap as an official research institute.

Mission of MBRC are as follows:
