Current research in surgical AI includes preoperative simulation, real-time computer vision for anatomical guidance, intraoperative decision support, and postoperative patient monitoring. It also focuses on robotic automation to improve precision and reduce human error. A key driver of this evolution is Physical AI, which represents the convergence of AI with the real world. In surgery, this means linking AI directly with actual surgical procedures. This is shown by recent autonomous robots that can suture or handle tissue without constant manual control. Ultimately, the primary goal of this digital transformation in the operating room is to enhance patient safety through the integration of AI-driven solutions.
